A log book is a teacher's record of the work covered in a subject. Typically it lists the main and specific competencies, the dates each was started and finished, and space for comments from the teacher and the school administration. It works alongside the schemes of work, which set out what should be taught, and the Form Five lesson plans, which set out how each lesson is delivered.
The Form Five log book covers the first year of Advanced Level, where students begin specialising in their chosen subject combination. It records, subject by subject, the competencies taught as learners move into deeper, more specialised content, with the dates each was started and completed.
