About these lesson plans
These 45 Form One Geography lesson plans follow the competence-based planning format used with the new TIE curriculum. They cover the concept and scope of geography, the major features of the Earth's surface (continents, oceans, relief features, inland water bodies and vegetation zones), and the Earth itself: its shape, size, position, movements, and parallels and meridians. Plans are written for either a 40-minute single period or an 80-minute double period.
What every lesson plan contains
Each plan uses the same seven-part header and a four-stage teaching structure:
- Header sections: class information (registered and present learners by gender), main competence, specific competence, main activity, specific activity, teaching and learning resources, and references.
- Teaching structure: Introduction, Competence Development, Design and Realisation, each with timing, teacher activities, learning activities and assessment criteria.
- Remarks: space for your reflection after the lesson.
- School details: a blank field for your school name, ready to complete.
