About Form Five Schemes of Work

A scheme of work is the teacher’s plan of what will be taught across the Form Five (Kidato cha Tano) year, mapping main and specific competences, monthly and weekly pacing, teaching methods, resources and assessment tools for every topic in the subject syllabus. It is followed by a lesson plan for each lesson and a log book that records what was actually covered.

Form Five is the first year of Advanced Level, where students specialise in their chosen subject combination and begin the two-year road to the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE). All Form Five schemes of work on this page follow the competence-based column format issued by the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) for the 2027 academic year. Periods per week vary by subject.

Standard scheme of work columns:
  • Main Competence (Umahiri mkuu)
  • Specific Competence (Umahiri mahususi)
  • Learning Activities
  • Month, Week and Periods
  • Reference
  • Teaching and Learning Methods and Resources
  • Assessment Tools and Remarks
Important: Personalise each scheme with your school name and actual term dates before submitting to your academic office.
